So, was working on finding stock images of pets, and when I found this I could not stop laughing at it. Is it just me?

I am very sensitive to onions. Like, crying, sniffling, headache-inducing sensitive when I have to chop those pesky bulbs. I try to avoid the task as much as I can, and if I do need them for something, I like to get it over with as quickly as possible. So it’s more than mildly ironic that one of my favorite things in the whole wide world is French Onion Soup.

The other night, for dinner, I decided to make some. And I probably wouldn’t have had such a difficult time if I hadn’t chosen to use tiny cipollini onions instead of one or two large yellow onions. So there I was, wiping tears off on the backs of my hands, my nose running (into a towel, not into the soup, of course) and getting waves of pain behind my eyes from those damn onions. Ugh. Why bother?

2. Your hometown. (Portland, Oregon, land of sock-plus-sandal experiences, various types of rain, and the phrase, “The mountain is out today!”)

4. Favorite color. (A true forest green. Not teal-y green, but more to the yellow-green side of things.)

It’s only four days late, but it’s here, back from hiatus—the Book Nook!

I had a very productive month in terms of reading, which was mostly due to trying to pass the time before a new Eloisa James book came out. But I was pleasantly surprised by the filler books I picked up, so here are my thoughts. Read the rest of this entry »
