Book Nook: August
September 3rd, 2010
Hey, this is not too bad here—only three days into September and you’ve got yourself another Book Nook.
For August, I picked up more from Lisa Kleypas as well as finally digging in to the new book from Eloisa James.
As usual, plot details/spoilers ahoy!

So, was working on finding stock images of pets, and when I found this I could not stop laughing at it. Is it just me?
Onion Soup
August 30th, 2010
I am very sensitive to onions. Like, crying, sniffling, headache-inducing sensitive when I have to chop those pesky bulbs. I try to avoid the task as much as I can, and if I do need them for something, I like to get it over with as quickly as possible. So it’s more than mildly ironic that one of my favorite things in the whole wide world is French Onion Soup.
The other night, for dinner, I decided to make some. And I probably wouldn’t have had such a difficult time if I hadn’t chosen to use tiny cipollini onions instead of one or two large yellow onions. So there I was, wiping tears off on the backs of my hands, my nose running (into a towel, not into the soup, of course) and getting waves of pain behind my eyes from those damn onions. Ugh. Why bother?
Reasons why I might enjoy watching sports.

- More bears.
- Bring back the whole Lions vs. Political Prisoners thing, like in ancient Rome.
- Not enough 20-minute epic drum solos.
- American Gladiators, but with rabbits.
- Still waiting for the multi-level chess tournament, a la Star Trek.

Icon Mosaic
August 20th, 2010
I have a longer, more contemplative post in the works, about life and the universe and lots of other very deep and meaningful things… but for now, let’s go with the ever-popular About Me icon mosaic meme, shall we?

- A famous person who shares your name. (Marie Antoinette, who never really said that whole bit about cake, really.)
- Your hometown. (Portland, Oregon, land of sock-plus-sandal experiences, various types of rain, and the phrase, “The mountain is out today!”)
- Favorite beverage. (Tea, Earl Grey, Hot. Or most any kinds of tea, really.)
- Favorite color. (A true forest green. Not teal-y green, but more to the yellow-green side of things.)
- Dream vacation. (New Zealand. Oo. For, like, two months.)
- Favorite book. (Harry Potter series, for so many reasons.)
- Childhood dream career. (Starfleet, of course! Nurse Chapel was a badass.)
- Life motto. (When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.)
Book Nook: July
August 4th, 2010
It’s only four days late, but it’s here, back from hiatus—the Book Nook!
I had a very productive month in terms of reading, which was mostly due to trying to pass the time before a new Eloisa James book came out. But I was pleasantly surprised by the filler books I picked up, so here are my thoughts. Read the rest of this entry »
